Dull Skin Treatment Options
Also known as Chemoexfoliation or Dermapeeling is a method of in which a chemical solution is applied to improve the clinical appearance of the skin. It allows rapid predictable, and uniform controlled chemoablation to desired depth, ultimately removing dead cells and stimulates new cell growth leading to skin rejuvenation while simultaneously minimizing complications.
There are three different types of peels depending on the depth of penetration. Superficial (Glycolic, Mandelic, Lactic, Pyruvic, Salicylic), Medium (TCA, Jessners etc), Deep (Phenol, TCA). The type of peel depends on the patient’s concern, their skin type, and post-procedural recovery time.
Some of the indications pigmentatory disorders like Phototanning, Melasma, Post Inflammatory hyperpigmentation, inflammatory disorders (acne), scarring, aging etc. where chemical peels treatment is more effective. The procedure is simple and non invasive, where a chemical solution chosen is applied on the desired area to be treated and is cleansed after a certain time. Following the procedure the patient might experience little erythema, edema and burning sensation which subsides within few minutes to hours.
It is advisable to use sunscreen and moisturiser regularly. Exfoliation after treatment typically occurs over several days (7-10 days) after which the results are visible. It is more apparent with subsequent sessions.

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. It can help improve the appearance of skin affected by sun damage, and also for wrinkles, blackheads, uneven skin tone etc. It is considered safe for most skin types. There are different types of hand piece available like diamond and crystal. The emitting handpiece of crystal/diamond is designed to exfoliate skin dead cells. At the same time, it will suction them off immediately. Hydradermabrasion is a popular and newer method involving exfoliation and as well as infusion of products in the skin. This increases blood flow to skin and stimulates collagen production.
Laser toning or low fluence, multi pass technique is a popular non-invasive, safe, effective, and advanced cosmetic treatment that helps to treat various skin conditions like freckles, melasma, facial melanosis, tattoo, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation etc. It utilises laser energy to target and breaks down pigmented cells in the skin. It is done after applying anaesthetic cream, the area to be treated is irradiated with overlapping pulses repeatedly. It is initially performed once a week. The results are more apparent with subsequent sessions. The interval could be increased to 2-4 week according to improvement of the area.
