Vampire Facial is commonly called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial.
It helps in rejuvenating the complexion of the skin. There is stimulation of collagen and elastin which results in a smoother, tighter, and lighter skin complexion. It is used in combination with Microneedling, Microdermabrasion, or resurfacing procedures like MNRF. It also helps in reducing acne scars and increases hydration of the skin.
When done with lasers, it is called a total plasma lift.
It can be done on the face, neck, and upper chest area.
Vampire Facial is used for aging signs like fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, open pores, sagging of the face etc.
Topical anesthetic is applied to the area for 30min-45mins. The patient’s own blood around 10-15ml is collected in a test tube. These test tubes are then placed in a centrifuge machine and a single spin is done. The plasma is separated which is rich in growth factors, clotting factors, etc. MNRF/Dermaroller is rolled on the face, making pinpoint injuries over which the separated plasma is spread which helps in collagen and elastin production. In Vampire Facelift, the PRP is injected intradermally which contains the clotting factors. Improved tone, texture, and pigmentation are seen.
Vampire facial is used for skin rejuvenation and anti-aging. The advantages of vampire skin lift are it increases collagen and elastin production, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles giving a tighter, firmer skin.
It is an absolutely safe procedure. Since the PRP is derived from one’s own blood, there are no chances of any cross infections.
Vampire facelift is done once every 4-6 weeks. A minimum of 3-4 sessions are required to get the desired results. The results can be seen after 2-3 weeks post-procedure, which lasts for 12-18months.
It is done under topical anesthesia, so usually, it is painless.
Post-procedure there is redness, swelling, and mild flaking which can last for 2hrs to 48hrs. They subside within 48hrs. The results are seen after7-10 days.
Do not touch the face till the next day. Wash face only with lukewarm water. From the next day, normal skin routine can be continued.
